Julia Jacklin is an Australian singer/songwriter whose music is characterized by a unique blend of dreamy indie pop and alt-country. Jacklin grew up listening to female vocalists like Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, and Amy Lee of Evanescence. Inspired by their work, she shifted her focus from a future in social work to a career in music. Jacklin’s songwriting evolved over time as her change in music matured, and by her early 20s she was drawing on inspiration from a much deeper well of expression, citing artists like Anna Calvi, Fiona Apple, and Appalachian folk-trio Mountain Man as major inspirations. Jacklin gained traction with the release of two singles, “Pool Party” and “Coming of Age,” both of which drew praise in the US and UK. Her debut full-length album Don’t Let the Kids Win was released in 2016.
